Shooting in the dark is very challenging, I didn’t want to disturb the beautiful situation with a flash.  Capturing the candle lit moment at Nicole’s sweet sixteen, I wanted to mix the ambient lighting with the candles while freezing her and her brother’s expressions.  I had to work really fast from far away to get this shot.  It’s one of my favorite moments from this event.

After the cake, they opened up the dance floor.  The DJ had some cool lighting effects being projected onto the ceiling.  I wanted to capture the lights while also freezing the kids’ as they danced.

I really wanted to capture the emotion of these kids and I think this photo does a good job of that.  Please check out the rest of Nicole’s photos on my site!
